Hi, I have a Ducato 2.5JTD on a 1998 plate (1994 to 2002 model) and I am importing it from UK into Spain. I only need to realign or change the headlights to make it legal in Spain.

To drive on LHD roads, can anyone tell me if the headlight units are:
  1. Adjustable without removing them?
  2. To be removed, adjusted and put back?
  3. Are sealed units that need replacing completely?

Thanks for all the help I can get on this topic.

Regards

You will need new head lights as fitted to left hand drive vehicles.

Remember that for Spain you must also change the rear fog light or add another to the other side , change your headlights here as a lot of early Spanish supplied Seval vehicles were supplied with pneumatic and cable operated light height adjusters ...!!!

Also have you done your sums as it is VERY expensive exercise ,tecnical inspection habitat inspection and gas/electric certification fees , then 75e for trafico admin fee . translator [ essential as otherwise you go nowhere ..!!!] fee , then the killer , 4%fee of what they perceive the vehicle is worth [ they have own data base ] plus import duty ...!!!

And that will be on a good day , i was quoted 4500 e to change my 2014 boxer over , i now bring it back to the UK every year to mot it .

Avoid Torrevieja ITV , use Ondara near Denia , i can give you a Spanish Gestor who can do this for you with relative ease, avoiding using a brit ...!!!

Best of luck .

Wonderful advice. Thank you very much indeed for letting me know all your experience in this. I have found a motorhome repairer and servicer who has a Gestor agent that will do everything with all taxes and fees inclusive, at €1500 (which I think means that even if 50%-75% of that is tax, that they have valued this 22 year old motorhome fairly low, compared to a reseller or private sale price??).

Also "apparently", and I am making sure the above repairer/Gestor gives clear confirmation of this, that quote includes the re-configuration of the vehicle from UK to EU (Spain) AND the Fischa Tecnica (Technical Data sheet) and engineer approval work. I will let you know.

Thank you
