Can anybody help, please.
For my motorhome (2008 X250) I am buying a tracker which includes an imobiliser.
This works by fitting a standard 5 pin automotive relay in the cable supplying the starter pre-engager solenoid. The relay is then switched between open and closed by the tracker.

This means of course I need to locate this cable.
Easy enough perhaps at the solenoid end but I need to tap into it higher up inside the beast (engine compartment of hopefully within the fasia.)

I will be fitting the tracker behind the radio.

Could anybody please assist me in finding the wire/cable proably near the ign switch perhaps or a fuse box location.

Thank you

This may be of some help. I guess you want to interrupt The lead from the ignition switch to pin C of the starter?

Unfortunately the detail in the eLearn diagram linked to by Ray, is rather blurred when viewed with Foxit Reader. The required wire is that connected to pin 3 of connector A, (3 way) at the ignition switch. The wire is coded MN, which equates to Brown/Black, (Marrone/Nero).
The starter solenoid draws several Amperes when operated, so I advise that appropriate sized cable is used.

An alternative method would be to interrupt the connection to the fuel lift pump. I do not have details for x250 vehicles, but on my x244 the fuel pump wiring can be accessed at the inertia safety switch near the battery. (I assume that this feature is retained in later models.)

If the fuel lift pump is inhibited, it may be possible to start the engine, but it will soon stop. Consider the psychological effect, on would be thieves.

Thankyou both.
I understand the comment about interupting the fuel pump supply.
The tracker company (Rewire Security) do not do this for safety reasons.
Their device uses it's GPS derived speed to sense when speed drops to zero or to a minimum level before triggering. This means the vehicle can still be driven until the engine is turned off but not then started.
Yes it could be driven a long way but we would know where it was!

Yes, just having a better work through your detail.
The ign key mechanism is supplied with a +ve from the battery via fuses B099 and B001, the input being at A on the ign switch.

As you mention , Communicator , the MN cable passes out at second from the left in the diagramme colour MN and passes through connector D004 and enters the starter motor solenoid at point C.

It looks like the best way to do this is to remove the steering column cowl and locate the brown and black wire from there.
Duplicate it's diameter and strand spec etc.

Thank you once again rayc and communicator.
The cable you identified was the right one.
I have installed the tracker meticulously and checked the wiring many times but although the tracker is working fine the imobiliser is not, I have written back to them.
