Hi all

I've had my 2006 (one of the last ones before the ´06 or ´07 facelift) 2.3 Ducato Maxi for many years and I still like it. Where other self-employed people might be thinking about upgrading to a newer van after driving the same one for 70,000 km (only 147,000 km in total), I'm not. The only trouble I've had (and continue to have) with it is the annoying blue paint peeling problem, which I try and keep in check by having affected areas sanded and resprayed before it spreads. But otherwise, mechanically and so on, it's been great and I still like it. I would also lose money if I went for anything newer - you always lose when buying a newer model, and factoring in signwriting, tool shelves, extra lights I've fitted and so on it's just not worth it, especially as mine is so low mileage. So instead I'm thinking about treating it to some fun tuning stuff, alloys and so on...:D

Both my headlights are wobbly (have been for years), both have one of the ear things broken so they're not attached at the bottom. Still goes through MoT here in Finland though. One of them also steams up, which is annoying. But the thought of just buying new ones the same is a bit boring, although that would also spruce it up a bit if they were all nice and sparkly again. I'm happy with their performance, I think the stock lights are very good and I have upgraded the bulbs.

My son is looking at styling his upcoming first car with "angel eye" headlights, and that got me thinking... Does anyone know of any similar "styling" upgrades for the Ducato? I know vans are probably less likely to be the subject of styling but I've seen e.g. VW Transporters with light upgrades so it might be possible. Also, the Ducato is a very common camper base, so maybe camper people might like styling them. I don't know about angel eyes, but someone may have made some with built in led drls or something? And if someone does make them, they'd have to be LHD of course. Any ideas?

Hi Finn.

I think the body shape and size is really good.
I have a 2006 x244 2.8 JTD Ducato.

My headlights are cheap plastic. So the plastic has crazed.
Endless buffing..... lol

I got mag wheels on my van...but one wheel is buckled badly...so i have the spare on whilst I search for the mag wheel replacement.

Yeah..I got peeling paint issue also.

Hi Finn,

I have a 2006 x244. I have not fitted or noticed any advertisements for styled headlights, but I have retrofitted DRLs to the foglamp spaces. I used the existing connectors and wiring with some modifications and additions. If you are interested I could provide further details.
