Hi,
Bought a 2010 Ducato to convert and slowly getting round to sorting it mechanically...

Latest is the Alternator has shat itself. And while poking around various bits with a multimeter i've noticed that the drain pipe from the heater intake (through the bonnet) has been folded up so that it's very constricted and doesn't really go anywhere. So my question is, where is it supposed to go? As far as I can tell at the moment nothing would drain until theres significant water build up and then it will flow onto the engine top - and i've experienced stuck injectors before and not really interested in that debacle again.

I can take a picture if above is not clear. My guess would be it's supposed to go straight down but not sure how it's held there and also it's not exactly a clear exit onto the ground...

Thanks,
Gregor

That seems to be where it points but is that wise? Do people put longer pipes in to take it past the gearbox? Or just live with the gearbox being wet?

On my 2016 van the drain tube is longer and diverts water behind the gearbox, and I've also seen reports of gearbox issues due to water mixing with the gearbox oil, so I suspect Fiat know the answer to that, or they wouldn't have redesigned the drain tube ;-)

Personally, I'd geet the kinks out of the tube if possible, replace it with something less kinkable if not, and extend any way you can to get water as low as possible away from anything else. It doesn't take much 'rain stops play' to cause grief, and this forum is full of it!

Aye will get it measured out and make a longer pipe. Cheers all
