Just joined here. Hope I'm not banging an old drum. 2017 Fiat Ducato 2.3 Motorhome with the uConnect 5 system. Largely unimpressed with the system. No default startup always goes to radio first. To get to phone have to then go to Media, Source, Bluetooth. Next time you turn on have to go through it again. Fiat Australia want an arm and a leg to upgrade the firmware with no guarantees that it will be any better. Is there anyway to do it yourself via USB or via the net? An even then is the latest version any better? No CarPlay?

We had a 2015 Ducato 2.3 150 BHP with uConnect 5, it was not very good. I complained to FIAT UK & they gave me a £100 service discount voucher as they agreed with me.

We now have a 2019 version again with uConnect 5. I don't think I have noticed any difference, beyond the fact that they appear to have made map updates available. It is the same rubbish navigation system as they put in the FIAT cars, not suitable for a large vehicle. To navigate I am using Copilot on an iPad Mini, this at least allows you to input the vehicle dimensions & will avoid low bridges & narrow roads.

I wouldn't waste any money on upgrading, save the money & buy an after market double DIN head unit with the features you want..

Hi. How did you get on with the firmware?

I have previously used the thread from the Fiat 400 site to upgrade my firmware in a 2015 Fiat Ducato, Uconnect 5inch TomTom display.

It took around 30 minutes to update the firmware with the engine running. A few minor changes but nothing significant.

However, phone connection was much more stable afterwards which was awesome.

I followed the prompts and used the VP2_CO firmware whick I believe is the European model firmware!!

Let us know how you get on. Mat

Thanks for the information. I used the VP2 CO firmware, which I assume is the European model firmware, after following the instructions.

Early firmware updated up to 2017 could be found on various forums, either directly of via posted links which went direct to Fiat's server intended for their dealer access. Fiat obviously became aware of the unauthorised access to their server as from that point on they put the firmware behind a firewall. You can access it if you meet the conditions for obtaining access to the Fiat Technical Portal (VAT registered repairer, headed company papers and business registration etc. submitted to Fiat and payment of ongoing subscription costs) otherwise it's dealer only.
