Well I've given up on the rev counter issue I've fitted new earths sent the cluster to cartronix had every relay and fuse out of both fuse boxes and we still have no rev counter or temp gauge but when it does work the abs light and handbrake light go out and temp gauge works then the rev counter stops again and the abs and the handbrake light come on and the temp gauge goes back to zero iam tired of looking at the loom checking for chafing I wish it was that simple ,I've had people saying it's the alternator then the crank sensor then the ecu oh and the abs pump Well I just cant start replacing all of them parts in hope it might be one of them and iam not clued up enough on electrics I would of thought someone with knowledge could of said how the rev counter actually works but i have yet to find such a person So I dont like to be beaten but on this occasion I have say iam beat

"The electronic rev counter receives the engine rpm signal coming via the CAN from the engine management control unit M010, connected via pins 58 and 41 of connector A to the engine rpm sensor K046. "

The 3L appears similar except "The electronic rev counter receives the engine rpm signal coming via the CAN from the engine management control unit M010, connected via pins 12 and 27 of connector A to the engine rpm sensor K046."

Perhaps the problem could be with the CAN communications between the modules e.g. the ECU /BCM / Display. That is only a guess though and specialist knowledge could be cost effective.

Could it be the Rpm sensor I guess that's the crank sensor "interesting "
