Hi There,

I have an old Ducato 1.9TD 1997 Motorhome and unfortunately it started leaking coolant. On further inspection it turned out to be a small pinhole/split in the coolant reservoir.

I have taken the reservoir off to try and find a part number but cannot find one.

Does anyone know the code for these or where I can purchase a replacement please? I have searched the internet but all the reservoirs I've found so far don't look like the old one I have. Different positioned fixing lugs etc etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Colin

Coastal Motorhomes is a good source of parts for older vans.

(link removed as the part was for vans up to 1994 so may not fit)

Hi Jimboy,

Thanks for your speedy response.

I didn't consider "repair" as I thought the coolant tank would get too hot to withstand a repair but I am certainly willing to try as I am hitting brick walls until I can visit a few scrapyards.

Do you have any tried and tested repair methods?

Thanks again.

Colin

Hi Crossingkeeper,

Again thanks for your advice. I just received an email from them this morning saying they can't help and to try the scrappies.

Cheers anyway.

High temp' liquid gasket seems to be favourite. Google is your friend, ideas & videos.

WOW Thanks for that advice. Now wish I'd tried that instead of searching the internet for hours and hours :))))

I'll order some today and fix it when this weather get better.

Cheers

Come back Colin & tell us how you got on. I still get a kick out of doing jobs like this. Never leaves me, mind you other problems seem to appear when fettling on your car...:D

Hi there.
Finally fixed the coolant tank by ordering a replacement one from the scrapyard.
I did I try mending it with Fernox and Aluminium tape which held for short journeys whilst I sought out a replacement.
I found the oem number but Fiat no longer make these.
Ordered a Ducato 2.8 2004 tank which looked identical but the scrappy sent a Peugeot Relay by mistake but that also fitted like a glove.
All in all, thanks for all the advice and I now know 2 alternative coolant tanks that will fit.
Job done ............. but now the air blower is whining. Agghhhh
You were so right Jimboy :)))

I am having exactly the same problem as Colin did

; finding a replacement for mine (one of the water connections was snapped off by some rather clumsy mechanics).
Is there any advice anyone can give me please?
The snapped off bit is still in the hose, but every type of glue or paste I've tried only lasts temporarily.
Cheers.

My 2.5d had the same type of tank as yours, couldn’t find one any where, the ones in the scrapyards were just as knackered and a new one sent through eBay was a completely different fitting despite having the same application number. I found that the long tank off the LHD Ducato fits with a bit of modification, a couple of small brackets and works well but you need to check how much clearance you have on the right side of the engine bay as this is longer-the air filter casing on mine is on its side so fits easily after cutting a couple of wiring harness studs down.
I think I did a post on this a while back, see pics for how I did it 😬

I did an in-depth replacement article on 22/10/22 👍🏽
