Hi Guys.
re: 2006 Fiat Ducato 2.8l JTD TurboDiesel Van (2002-2006 series II x244)
I am new to owning a Ducato automatic and front wheel drives.
Stuck at pulling the half axle out!
Hoping someone has some experience on removing the half axle on a 2002-2006 ducato or sevel equivalent?
I need to remove it to replace a damaged lower ball joint and split CV boot.
This is on the right hand side of the vehicle.
Seems to be two axles joined from the transmission.
I have never seen this setup before.
I tried to follow the eLearn Fiat cd but stuck just now.
I followed the guide until it didn't work!.
Not a fan of eLearn cd manual. It's lacking.
I have removed the caliper and disk off the hub, removed the steering knuckle, separated the lower ball joint and steering tie rod.
I have the wheel side of the axle/CV joint out of the steering knuckle and resting on the lower arm.
I have removed the inner cv boot band from off the bearing cup.
I have worked the boot off the cup also.
(that was suppose to be the last step before removal?)
I am suppose to be able to pull the half axle out now?
It just is not sliding all the way out. It does slide laterally but stops at the end
of the cup. :bang:
I have seen videos where they leave the knuckle attached to the Macpherson strut, caliper and all. But I just didn't think it had the movement out of the way
to get the axle out of the knuckle?
The CV joint is large so is awkward to maneuver. Might need to support this end!
I may have to put steering knuckle back on the Strut to hold the CV joint end of the axle?
Anyone done this, have tips or know method that works?
Presently, the half axle doesn't pull out from the cup located on the inside?
I have everything else disconnected ...I think? (unless something missing from manual?)
Might put it into neutral and see if rotating the axles helps?
Anyone else pulled the axle off their Ducato?
