Ok guys 2005 2.8 jtd, because of my very intermittent immolbiliser fault that's been going on for months and three failed attempts to get it fixed, maybe a wiring fault?

Found a place on line who claim they can bypass the immolbiliser with no onward problems or leave any lights on dashboard, I have supplied them with all the numbers on the ecu, they only offer a postal service so I have to do the awkward removal and refit (hymer A class)

Has anyone had this done successfully, should I trust them? Or am I opening a can of worms here?

Have thought about getting a used ecu for them to operate on, but they say even with matching numbers the software maybe different to mine so not compatible?

Thanks Brian

First of all immobiliser intermittent is often simply the connectors in the code unit under the steering column cowl need cleaning takes 5 minutes so do that first, second suspect would be the key antenna around the ignition barrel, coil in the antenna can crack leading to intermittent reception. Check that for any signs of wear, cracking or damage and check the coil for continuity while prodding and wiggling it.

Thirdly if you disable the immobiliser you'll end up installing a third party immobiliser to keep your insurance company happy and stop your van being stolen with a screwdriver so invest that money in fixing the problem

Hi,
Where are you located? As Corcai says t would be better to fix it than disable it.

Hi guys, I've had couple of people try, had new antenna, got new control box but fiat garage fitted it they could not read the key coding, read ecu ok but not able to code keys to new box, could not afford £100 per hour for them to carry on and they wernt really interested

Found some squashed wires under dash by steering column, got part loom from scrappy and soldered onto replace mine with new multiplug, still think wiring connection somewhere but no diagrams available 9 times from 10 it's ok for weeks then it might fail 10 times in a row!

Spoke to my insurer they are not concerned if bypassed nor will it affect premium

If could find cable route and connections may stand a chance but disappears into loom, been in the square fuse relay box under bonnet and used contact cleaner on plugs in there

Thanks Brian

Brian,

A diagram is avalable on eLearn, which may be dowloaded from this forum's website, or purchased as a DVD on eBay for a few pounds.

The diagram is E7010, and the path to it is as follows. English - 2.8JTD - Van Symbol - Electrical Equipment - 1 Electrical Functions - E70 Vehicle Electronic Systems - E7010 Code - E7010 Code Wiring Diagram.

One particular cause of a similar problem to yours, about which I have read, was diagnosed to problems with the 2 core screened cable between the aerial and the immobiliser module.

Communicator, thanks for your input the antenna has been replaced comes with cable to just plug in

I haven't got a clue about your download information, hopeless with this stuff!
