Hi all I am new to the forum and to fiat altogether I have bought a Ducato 2005 diesel van I have just replaced the starter motor but my problem now is the gearbox linkage has disconnected. Is it easy to reconnect? Does the clutch pedal need to be up or down?

Sorry to tell you, it is not the gear linkage you are looking at in the pic. iIt is the clutch slave cylinder, and you need a new one. I do not think it will repair. If you search on here, there will be info I am sure, or someone will be here and be able to tell you how hard or expensive the job may be. If you can, and you are going to buy a new one from a real shop (not online) take the old one with you as reference, or send pictures to an online seller if you do so that way. Make sure you get the correct one- I am not sure if there is only one type.I don't think they are very expensive. Download the eLearn manuals off here if you have not done so already, and have a read. Hope you can fix it OK!

Its the same as the stilo, stick rod back in and rubber back on, bleed and monitor the fluid level. Most of the time its fine.
