Hi
I have a 2003 Ducato 18 maxi, there is a little play in the steering rack can this be fixed or is it a new one at over £500. I have a wheel wobble when going around roundabouts but fine on a straight road we have had the underneath checked and no play found only on the rack drivers side.

Any help will be appreciated

Are you sure its not the inner trackrod ends, very hard to tell.

My money would be on the front wishbone bushings, you need a LARGE prybar from underneath to check the wishbone bushings on the drive its nearly easier to pull the bolt and inspect / replace them.

yes it had new wishbones and bushes both sides plus lower bushes not sure what you mean by inner track rod ends.do you mean the bit that goes into the power ram that’s the only bit we can see that has got any movement but then a tiny amount it passed it mot in May no advisory’s

The bushes at the rack ends wear and if they are like the Punto Mk1 are plastic, and drop to bits inside leaving up and down play which causes an audible clonk over bumps and round corners. Most likely with manual racks not so much with power steering.
