Hello,

I'm new here on this forum and hope someone can help me with an engine problem I have with my 2011 Ducato 2.2 JTD engine with 78000 km's.

For a while now the engine has a coldstart problem and runs very badly in idle. After a few minutes the engine runs as normal, even when it isn't fully warmed up. When I drive off, the engine runs normal in idle after a few 100 mtrs.
The garage placed a new EGR valve and a fuelinjector, cleaned and checked all hoses and electrics. There are no faultcodes what so ever. Also they did a cylinder compression test which is 100% ok.

The garage has no clue for what causes this problem.
Has anyone had this experience and knows what causes this problem?

Thanks for any helpful reaction!

In addition to my question,
it seems the EGR valve clatters when cold while it supposed to be closed. After running for a few minutes the valve closes as normal when in idle.

Question now is, what causes the clattering of the valve on that moment!

Hi Oigle,

Thanks for the reply. I can check the glowplugs of course to be sure they are not the cause if it. But the EGR valve has more to do with the exhaust gases isn't it?

Yes it does but has no effect on cold starting. Only begins doing anything when engine is already running.

Mine had a similar sounding problem. Cold start it and it hunted when idle, and sometimes cut out. The egr had been replaced, so I changed the low pressure fuel regulator and it was sorted.
