Hi guys,
New to the forum.
I have a 2016 Fiat Ducato tow truck. We've been having an issue with it. We've had it diagnosed and the fault code is p0089-78. We also had a turbo vain actuator fault but this has been sorted. We've replaced the fuel filter, it was due anyway in 2000 miles.
The fault only seems to happen when we have over half a tank of fuel in the truck. We've been looking at the fuel pressure regulator but can't see why it's connected to having over half a tank of fuel, the fault is also intermittent so when testing components nothing seems to show, and when it does happen and we turn the ignition off it corrects itself.
We are starting to look more at the low pressure fuel pump in the tank, but again when we check it everything works as it should.
When the fault happens sometimes the engine light comes on, soemthimes the traction skid light comes on, but either way it always blows out loads of white smoke.
Has anybody has any issues with the in tank pumps and this fault code or is it always the fuel pressure regulator? We haven't gone down the electrical route as like I said before this only happens when it's filled over half a tank. (And we can't just use it under half a tank as we do ling distance and having to stop and put just under half a tank of fuel in isn't ideal)
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
