Technical X244 cruise control retrofit 2.8JTD 2005-factory parts?

I think that I have previously warned that cutting the slot in the lower column shroud is one of the more difficult operations. It requires extreme care when making a template, and marking out. I found it difficult to hold the shroud when cutting the slot.

Fitting is improved, if about 12mm is trimmed from the lower edge of the direction indicator stalk.

I am very pleased by your success.

For the benefit of others, the white/violet wire carries the cruise "ON" signal to the ECU.

Again for general interest, I am attaching a translation of a much earlier post on the Italian camperonline forum, and for any unfortunate soul trying to carry out this modification on a vehicle which is not pre-wired, a pinout diagram for the Bosch ECU.

Excellent info for Kezzza

Sorry folks,

I seem to have missed the last two words from my previous post.

It should read "........stalk rubber muff."

Hi Varesecrazy, does this x244 retrofit work with my x250

Thanks

Thanks

I think that would be a difficult question to answer, unless you have detailed knowledge of the x250 engine ecu.

In the x244, the cruise control function is held in the engine ecu. The x250 engines are multijet, and require a different ecu. Implementation could be elsewhere.

As a first step I suggest buying a "Workshop Manual" CD (eLearn) for the x250, which are available on eBay for under £4.

Not much at stake there, and the info contained could be of more general use. Alternatively you could try the downloads section of this forum, but some users have reported errors when attempting to download.

With eLearn available, follow the links, electrical - engine control - cruise control (E5060?). You can then read the text and study the diagram.

In particular how does the cruise control stalk communicate with the ecu?

If the answer is by direct wired connection, then your proposed modification may be possible.

When you get your cruise control where are you going to use it?
I never use mine because the roads are always so congested I have to vary my speed according to the traffic.
But I can see it would have been useful on EU motorways where traffic density is far less than in Britain.

Its called CRUISE for a reason.. ;)

Set it at 56 and you can trundle along with all the other 'commercials'

My Cruise equipped car is 875cc.. and the Cruise sees a LOT of use

I use the stalk like a 'hand throttle'
On what is supposedly the UKs 2nd busiest part of the Motorway network

Thanks a lot Varesecrazy. Think I’ll look into a precision model. Thanks

If someone wonders (I did) if this is possible for Peugeot Boxer 244, I can tell now, it is possible.

At least for version with 2.2 HDi engine, LHD, year 2006. I bought 2006 Stilo's cruise stalk from crapyard, same as Alfa 147 stalk. I found The black connector near left fusebox and it had needed wires. I also found connector D160 and connected pins 1 and 6 together and then wired it to yellow wire of stalk.
New pins for black connector and D160 found from male and female connector like this https://www.auto-ricambi.eu/waterproof-5-pin-connector-cover-5-sockets-rubber-bands-p17811/ . They were direct fit. Also pins inside stalk connector are same, so I removed white casing and stuck pins inside 5-pin waterproof connector, so I managed to to really neat connections. New brake light switch I had to buy also, as old had only two pins.
Only hard thing to do was hole to cover under steering wheel. I managed to **** up it quite good and it looks very bad. Maybe I need to buy another cover and try again.

But now it works and even the led on dash lights up. It didn't light up at first try, but after I turned power off and again on with cruise on, the light came alive.

Thanks for everyone, who has written guides, tips and schematics here!

Interesting to know the Hdi can take this modification, I'm sure many have wondered. Thank you for posting!
