I have a 2015, 3.5 tonne horse box on a Ducato chassis, purchased new in 2015. Now out of warranty (168500 miles) but I have had intermittent problems with the EML (orange) coming on at random intervals. This has happened often since the truck was under warranty. The EML light comes on for no reason, then throws the engine into limp mode, with no acceleration. This lasts until the next stop when power comes back on (95%) but the light stays on. The light eventually goes out and all is fine until the next time. This has happened to me probably 20 times and Fiat have been unable to help, even under warranty. Diagnostics show a 'possible sensor fault', which I agree with as I have never had a problem with the engine. It seems to me that it is the sensor which throws the vehicle into limp mode and not a problem from the engine.

Anybody got any thoughts or experiences ?

It may be a bad connector under inside the fusebox under the hood. You will find them if you tilt upp the relay/fuse board in the fuse box. Take it apart and put together again. Also check that the cable loom are dry.

Are you saying that there are no fault codes stored when read by the dealer, or that they have retrieved fault codes which leads them to suspect a possible sensor fault?

If the latter, it must be pointing towards a particular sensor which should give you a clue what to replace.

If the former, consider buying a cheap OBD reader that you can carry with you. If/when the light comes on or it goes into limp mode during a journey, plug it in and read the codes at the time.
