I have the PO368 code on my 2009 3ltr multi jet 160
i have read many articles on how to solve this & done most of them
ie checked wiring, fitted new throttle valve with new cable, fitted new solenoid valve
does anybody have any thoughts on what I should try next

What are you using to read the code?
Have to say it again Multiecuscan and a bit of diagnostics is cheaper in the long run than just changing parts by guess work. If you want random parts changed use a garage

Sorry for the mix up should have typed PO638
I am using a basic scan tool
Should also say that the campervan runs as normal but i have to get it through an MOT & i suspect the MEL will be a failure

P0638 is short error on the throttle solenoid valve, I had it occasionally for over a year. I cleaned and reseated the solenoid connector and that would fix it for a while. It gets very corroded. I had the old design solenoid. The replacements typically come with a new design connector to the solenoid and a stubby lead to accept the old looms connector. The old looms connector, if still not cleaned and still corroded, will still fail. I soldered directly to the solenoid. You might prefer to cut out the flying old connector, if that's what you have, and make a good connection somehow.
Ah, and also, the wires run to another multiple connection well amongst others in a box tucked around the headlight air filter area, that might need a clean too.

Hi Robert
Thanks for your advise ,I will look into the multiecuscan
What would i need to go with this software ie some form of adapter to connect the lap top & the OBD point on the van
Regards Mike

Thanks for your help
I will try cleaning the connector into the new throttle valve
I fitted the new valve around 6 months ago ( it is the one with the black plastic elbow & short cable ) & it appeared to solve the problem ,but the PO638 has now returned
Regards Mike

I'd bet its the flying connector then, should take a moment to look. It is surprising how bad the connection can be when you would assume at least some metal contact!
