Hi Team,
Can you help me with a part number please? I have a X250 2007 3.0 camper van (van conversion). The rear shocks are tired, not leaking and are "topping" out when one of the rear wheels goes down into a pothole or big dip in the road surface. This then gives a big thump/bang as the axle hits the end of the extended shock. I've been under the van and I've got two part numbers. the RHS shock I can cross reference as it is a new part number 1355821080. The LHS is 50707745. This 50707705 part number I can not find any technical specs for it and would like confirmation that it is the correct part for the chassis. This is not a MAXI chassis but the rear axle is currently carrying 1540kgs, so pretty loaded up.
I don't know why the shocks are different and I can only assume one was changed before I owned it.
Thanks in advance:)
Chris

Very sorry. Typo on my behalf. Should have reread my post before I posted it.

Part number on the rear shock is 50707745.

I've attached a photo of the part numbers as I can read it.

TIA

I posted a link to them in my post above. Here is a second link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50707745...EN-JUMPER-3-0-115KW-D-6M-2007-R-/253903863309

Perhaps they have been superseded by the part number on your RH one? This link shows a pair of new ones compatible with part number 1355821080 https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/ste...citroen-relay-rear-gas-shocks-1362556080.html

Hi Rayc,

Your link is similar to what I've found from a Dutch used parts website, that I can't post here because I'm not allowed to :-(

which lists both my part number 50707745, and your part number of 1362556080. Reading your link from SouthCoast cross-references to 1352281080 listed on their website under "additional part numbers". (which is the part number on the LHS of my van).

I was just wondering if there was an official Fiat cross reference list (of sorts?). Using this information from South Coast, I would have to assume, that these part numbers are the same compatible part without being 100% Fiat authorised/approved. It would just be nice to know that "officially" part X has been replaced/superseded with part Y, if you know what I mean.

I know that if you go to a Vauxhall parts department with an old Vauxhall part number, they will give you the new part number if it's been superseded. (I'm not saying Vx are any better, it's just an example).

The main reason for researching this is that there are three different lengths of rear shock absorber and very little information as to which goes where? It would appear that the part number 1355821080, which is on the LHS, is the one in the middle of the lengths, but I cannot find which variant of the X250 this applies to?? As to the original shock absorber on the RHS, no idea!!

I'm just hesitant to buy the equivalent pair of shock absorbers and then find they're unsuitable because I bought the wrong length! I want to replace both rear shocks as a pair.

thanks

Chris

I’d suggest you go into your local motor factor, I’d suggest a large non-franchise operation with staff with knowledge and care about getting it correct, Euro Crapparts and Halfrauds avoid at all costs. Take your vehicle details and the part number off your damper, they will be able to look up your vehicle online and cross refer the part number and your damper number via TecCom to determine what needs to be used.

(Former purchasing manager for motor factor)

I also have a X250 coachbuilt MH

The shock absorbers are not handed, The different numbers relate to suppliers batch parts so its quite possible that different numbers were fitted at build, and of course one may have been replaced at some stage.
The parts supplier MrAuto is good for Euro vehicles and have a part that may be suitable,

As you point out there are three lengths. You could measure your existing units to determine the best fit.
Banging on drop is unusual as the spring limits travel, its more usual on bump. Have you checked the bump stops/auxiliary springs, these often loose the bottom of the cone section after a time.
