I have an airbag failuer warning on the display of my Fiat Ducato 180 Multijet.
It came on for no reason at all.

How or what do I have to do to get rit of this "fake" warning?
Somebody please.

Thanks.

How do you know it's fake? The system has detected a fault. It doesn't mean that an airbag has to deploy for it to be "real".

Read the fault code with diagnostic software to determine what is causing it.

A couple of possibilities:

Broken or damaged pre-tensioner cables below the seats - more likely if you have a motorhome with swivel seats and the converter hasn't taken steps to protect the cables. many don't.

Faulty SRS ECU. A company that specialises in repairing these says that they are prone to memory corruption from allowing the vehicle battery to go flat or incorrect jump starting etc. - also more common on motorhomes.

Don't fiddle with the cables or components unless you know what you are doing. Battery needs to be disconnected for at least 20 minutes before touching anything to prevent risk of unintended activation or components in the system.

Agree with RS3100.. YOU don't know that it's a fake warning... but it's an MOT fail for sure... there have been a number of cases where the airbag ECU has gone faulty, as well as some faults with the connectors.. but dabbling with those connectors is potentially dangerous since they are related to the pyros... and you don't want them to activate.. Only way forward for the present is to get it diagnosed via OBD... I did this for a mate and it was shown as internal error in airbag module. He got it sorted in a short time.

I had the airbag module replaced under warranty. The warning came up after the van was only two weeks old. Apparently the airbags go into safe mode when there is a fault and will not deploy, even in an accident.
This is on a motorhome by the way.
