So, I just had a window supplied for the sliding door of my x290 (from Vanpimp's ebay store - as per item 302520704315)...

It's arrived with what I would call a 15-20% tint rather than an 80% one. It blocks less than 25% of light transmission, so it's completely transparent and not 'privacy tinted' at all, looking nothing like the window in the picture.

Does anyone know where you can get one that's ACTUALLY privacy tinted?

Have you checked that you have got what you ordered from the company in the first instance.

I had two front fixed windows from Vanpimps at the start of May and they are definately privacy with I think about 82% tint. You can almost sleep without curtains..........

I have had windows in the past from Van Demon and they are only about 70% tint and you can certainly tell the difference.

The factory windows in the combi vans look as if they have even less tint, and are almost clear.

I know it is not ideal but you could put a tint film on the windows if you can`t return them.

They're pretty fiercely defending that that's just how they look 'before they're installed' which goes against everything I understand about light transmission from photography... Not to mention that my porthole windows (30% tint) are definitely darker than these...

I'm going to press on and install anyway because I can't find an alternative and am wasting too much time waiting on this, but I'd love to see pictures of your 82% ones if you have them? It would be good to confirm whether I'm about to be really disappointed or not ;)

Your mot place may have a tint master tester to prove the tint is wrong probably tell you for the price of a pint. Any place that tests taxis or othe public servixe vehicle should definitely have one if your own moy doesnt.

That's a great idea! I've used a light meter to test (and to be honest, my eyes are pretty effective too), but third party corroboration can't hurt. I'll do as they've asked and fit it first for certainty though :bang:

load of cobblers. look at the front ones in their pic, see how dark they look and they are plain glass. The angle that the pic was taken is not conducive to showing exactly how dark the tint is, even allowing for the variation in photgraphic properties. get them metered and send back if not as advertised!
