Hi people I have a very sloppy gear stick on my 1991 Ducato motorhome can somebody tell me how to remove the gear stick because I think the play is at that end and not the gearbox end many thanks Rick

Well Gumbo, I have the same problem with my 2001 2.8 JTD motorhome. I have to pause between changes even going up the box. I'm used to it now but would like to improve it.
I take it that as you haven't had a reply there isn't a simple remedy other than replacing the cables.

1991 is a stick shift the bushings wear can be sourced easily enough. i believe jktowers have an improved linkage for sale.

Sloppy cable shift is often the bracket on the dash is cracked but what you describe about pausing to shift sounds more like bad oil or worn syncros than the linkage. If the linkage is stiff you need to diamantle the pivot on the gearbox, polish it and reasswmble with waterproof grease

My gearbox oil was changed and it made a slight improvement. I recently drove a newer but high mileage van which had a much better change. I'll get the garage to do what you suggest when holiday season e ds.I
