Can anyone give me some info on 3l. m/jet high pressure fuel pump .I came to this issue s/h and am still ytrying to fix it .I am up to no fuel at alll getting to common rail .have not been able to locate or check if the pump is operating at all lift pump and filter are ok plenty of fuel and timing chain is turning .Any help would be appreciated .This motor has done a lot of work but was running ok until it seems a very wet day soaked the fuses etc .I have replaced these ..but still not been able to scan ecu just trying some other things that I can in the meantime

Got an oscilloscope? Regulator should have pwm to open it to allow pressure to the rail when cranking. Did you replace the whole fusebox? Did you check ecu loom and connector for water ingress? Did you check the loom behind tge hewdlamp for damage or corrosion.

yes the whole fuse box was replaced no other damage is observable .Is the pump accessable could it fail somehow is it mechanical can I remove it to test it or dismantle it .I cant even see where it is .What is an oscilloscope. and where and what is the pwm or regulator

If you can't find it and don't know what an oscilloscope is you definitely shouldn't be removing it or dismantling it. Common rail injector and pump repairs need clean room environment, specialist tools like microscopes, micrometers and very expensive test equipment.

Can the pump fail yes, is that where I would be looking no.

Judging by your questions I would ask when you said you're getting no fuel at the rail did you loosen a pipe if so you should be aware that common rail won't even attempt to start until the rail pressure reaches around 200bar which is never going to happen with a pipe open and the idle pressure is probably around 400 bar - more than enough to vaporise your fingers and drive diesel into your bloodstream.

Yes I am aware of my ignorance unfortunately I am a long way from help so I am just trying to understand this vehicle .thanks again tho .I am curious to know where and what the pressure pump looks like.It is an iveco motor so I might try iveco sites

First thing you need is multiecuscan and an adapter your grasping at straws without diagnostics.

Pump is a bosch cp3 pump start here:

This is for the older 2.3 but the functional diagram for fuel system might be of help to you in understanding - the 3.0 is slightly different is has a release valve at the end of the rail.

Iveco manual - 160 multiject is F1C based you'll be most interested in page 265 onwards.

No problem I used to live in the most remote part of tiny old Ireland and it was a nightmare getting parts or even basics like fine pitch nuts and bolts, I can't even imagine how difficult it is living in remote australia.

Yes thanks again I am getting there but there is very few ofthese around and none that have been thru what mine has and local mechanics will reluctantly work on it but give no guarantees and there cost must be paid 90$ per hour so I want to fix it and learn about it and I am not in a hurry. The mechanic can not really put in the research needed for a one of .whereas I want to learn about it . The whole common rail and complexity of this motor is daunting to an old fashioned back yarder like me ...john (baycruiser)
