Technical 2017 Ducato Maxi Problem after problem

Unfortunately that’s not viable as you have to have tachometer
Fitted and an operators license to tow a trailer for hire and reward
Fiat customer care offered a small contribution towards hiring
A car transporter but the cheapest I could find was £100 per day
Plus a mileage charge which worked out I would be working for nothing

More complicated than I realised....

I hope you get back on the road soon.....pop in often to check the so called professionals are working on your van and not their mates . Good luck

Don’t worry I ring them every day to be honest Fiat customer
Care have been instrumental in getting the repair done
And have apologised about the way the Franchise have gone about
It and have promised a good will gesture once it’s back
On the road
Wish I had called them earlier

Well got an email a few days before i went on holiday to say it was finished and ready to collect
Went down to collect it only for it to be parked up in the garage with the engine sat on the floor in front of it.They said they was waiting for the parts for the gearbox repair which turned out the 1st and 2nd Gears plus synchros where badley worn and the main shaft don't understand that as 90 percent of my driving is on the motorways
they said it would be ready for me to collect on the Monday i get back of holiday

Collected it Monday morning did a local job first then down to Shropshire on the drive down the day was getting hotter so i switched the zircon on nothing but hot air blasting in to the cab phoned them up they had forgot to regas the air con after refitting the engine they asked me if it was performing ok which it was i said i would check the water level when i got to my destination
It had dropped a bit but i put it down to the level settling so topped it up about a pint of water
the next day i was early for my deliver in cambridge so check under the bonnet and the water bottle was nearly empty rang them up told them and booked it in to be dropped of Wednesday morning as the my next job could not be cancelled as turn in the customers yard there was a loud bang from the gearbox as the gear stick was thrown out with a lot of force
i rang them up again told them what had happened only to meet with deadly silence

so what had taken them nearly 10 weeks to repair i now have a vehicle thats in more disrepair than i dropped of WHAT A JOKE i'm now in a position where i'm going to lose my business if its not repaired asap in fact 4weeks thats all i have left before the wolves start knocking on my door

Thats bo110ck5 is there no one you can sub your work to, keeping your customers happy ?

Thats pretty shocking list of problems and terrible dealer service! I'd of been tempted to hire the transporter at £100 a day and tell your dealership they will be paying for it, they might of got the finger out faster? Wondering now if I should stick with my rusty ole bulletproof Sprinters?

They are mostly high end restored VW split screen campers and need to be handled with care I'm afraid i won't trust anyone else transporting them that i don't know personally my customers have other providers on their books but i'm their first choice as i look after them and their vehicles so have gained a good working relationship with them just glad that they are on my side and very understanding its the fixed day to day running costs of the business thats hitting me hard know as my reserves have been used up i'm now into overdrafts and credit cards

Just spoken to Fiat customer care today they are waiting for the results from the dealer for an internal pressure test they are suspecting a cracked engine block so still no nearer to getting repaired at the moment
I have told them that it needs to be fixed ASAP and i'm going to sue them for loss of earnings and personal costs and that it would be cheaper for them to replace the engine and gearbox as thats failed twice all ready
the gearbox problem is that 1st and 2nd gears and synchros as well as the main shaft where completely worn out which i find strange as its all motorway work so 5th and 6th are the most used gears very little use of the lower gears

Quick update 3 months and counting

The dealer as said it needs a new engine waiting on Fiat to authorise the replacement they wouldn't go into the details as to what the fault is just that its not repairable

They haven't even looked at the gearbox yet i have requested that they replace rather than repair as its failed twice with the same fault

New engine on its way should be here between the 4th-6th September still no news on what they are doing with the Failed gearbox rebuild

Quick update

New engine is currently being fitted and just had a phone call from Fiat
To report on the gearbox it’s not repairable something to do with the casing and bearing seat do a new gearbox as been ordered
So hopefully should be back on the road soon fingers crossed

Well i've got the Ducato back this afternoon from Fiat
they have replaced the engine due to and internal coolant failure in the engine block and also replaced the gesrbox for a brand new unit they wouldn't go into details why it had failed
Now the fun starts as i try to claim for personal and fixed business cost that i have had to endure whilst it took them 4 months to repair the transporter i waiting for my case manager to get back to me with a decision with the amounts ive put forward if no joy i will be taking a civil claim out against them if mediation fails to come a agreed settlement

Fingers crossed

Hello nothing yet i've just gone to the last stage with Resolver on the money saving expert site i would recommend that you use this first its all logged for you and creates a case file for when you have to go to through small claims court
all i have been offered is a £200 service voucher which i declined

As far as i can gather its normal practice to decline/ignore complaints for compensation with the hope you will go away until you go through the small claims court then they usually make an offer a few days before the hearing i received this info from a few of my customers who have been in a similar situation

Its totally out of order how they treat their customers with the hope you will put up and shut up attitude they have

Well just got of the phone with the court mediator they totally rejected my claim so was asked to come back with lower claim of £4500 Fiat came back with a cover offer of £4000 which i accepted not the result i wanted as i didn't want to go to court as theirs always a risk of losing and being responsible for their costs as well and more court fees

i can at least clear the credit card and move on now
