Hi, I have an X250 panel van, 3 button remote one button lock, front unlock, rear load space unlock. Symptom was I got off the ferry, drove to cashpoint, locked van, came back and it would not unlock with the remote. Unlocked with key ok, but only front cab, but the dashboard button for lock / unlock worked ok. So central locking was working, it just wasn't working on remote.

Changed battery. No change. It did seem odd, never any issues with this van since owned 18 months, although at 2012 new, remote may be 6 years old.

Read up, to see if there is a resync process, no, so managed trip locking from driver door and unlocking using that and dash switch. BTW, all other lock function was fine eg, power locking at 5mph plus. SO I assume remote is duff, and read up it can happen, so found a place that repairs them in Leicester.
Got back from trip, take in remote. They test it and say it seems to be transmitting, but leave it with, the engineer will take a look.

Got call 4 hours later to say it is ready to collect, but when I go they say there was no fault. They disaasembled and cleaned it, and reflowed some solder connectiosn that looked a bit dry, but as no fault found, no charge!! (So nice of them, I did offer, but they were adamant).
So, still no locking, got home, no joy, but at least now I know it must be receiver side of things.
Press remote, nothing, no indicators, no lock clunk, just nothing.

Did some reading up and found on a motorhome forum the idea of a "reset" of the body computer, but removing the earth strap to battery.
Out I go to do it, it is quick release on this van, so easy, but i cannot get stop start lead off. Stick key in ignition and no dash lights turn it on, nothing, so figure it is disconnected "enough". Stick earth back on and amazingly, remote fired into life. All back to normal!

Only posted to suggest there is hope with this problem!! There's a few threads on here that give no resolution or end up at £300 dealer charge. But worth a go if your remote seems to give up the shost with no notice and locking still works off dash button!

I'm chuffed, it was doing my head in locking it via drivers door as I have to park at home and work right up against a wall on drivers side and get out the passenger side! So to then limbo round the side of van, hanging off the door mirror and lock it at arms length was a pain!

Jus thought I would share this tip and thank Autotronics for their total decency today. cheers

Its called a battery re-set. Sometimes called a global re-set
Similar to re-booting your computer.
Some vehicles will lose the radio following this.

Yes, interestingly mine did not lose radio etc.

One other possibly coincidental finding is that whilst the remote was not working last week, for the first time in 18 months of ownership, the "stop start" system began working. Worked for whole period I was abroad, not tried it since back as van been on drive. I wonder if when I try it doesn't work now the remote is working! lol

Hi thanks for this I just experienced the dead fob problem on a week old X290 and fixed it the same way as you by disconnecting the battery - it was quicker than waiting for the dealer to return my call. Did you ever find out why it happened?

Hi just to say my 2012 had just done the same thing was working when i locked it whent out the next morning and nothing.
i did what you said removed the negative side of the battery tested ignition (no lights) put the negative back on the battery hey presto the remote is working again,
thanks to all
