Technical immobilizer on 97 ducardo motorhome

Hi
I have a 1997 2.5tdi motorhome that has a starting problem .The light for the immobilizer on the dash sometimes does not go out so I can't start and it leaves me stranded .Its happening more often and today I had to wait 2 hours for it to decide to go out .I have tried the spare key and this doesn't stop it from happening either .I have checked the connection's to the immobilizer under the dash (all fine ).when the light goes out both keys start it fine so I don't think it's the key .
I'm thinking it's time to change the immobilizer but am unsure on what that will entail.I have found the immobilizer on the internet so I can get them .
Any advise or help with this would be very welcomed

Its more likely the circuit on the pump is failing, remove it and fit and aftermarket thatcham 2 immobiliser or alarm.
 
Hi if it’s the red key system on vehicle have you got red key because this is the programming key if you want to keep it original but The best option will be to remove troublesome immobiliser off vehicle and fit aftermarket one the immobiliser unit is on fuel pump under a reinforced metal plate held on with shear bolts that needs removing first ,you can do it with pump on engine but very tricky job when all off just run ignition feed to fuel cut off switch on pump
 
97 motorhome is often 96 chassis so theres a chance theres no armoured plate on it.
 
Had the same year M/H van for ten years with out, had the same agro best to rip it out who will want an old van, Exept for scrapping
