Hi, I have a RHD 2004 Ducato 2.8 JTD base on my motorhome. In the passenger foot space is an air conditioning thermostat at low level just in the right place to get the terminals kicked off and broken by the passenger. It has two terminals (now one) on one end and a thermocouple type tube at the other which disappears up behind the heaters/blowers. I have managed to locate a new component however am not sure on the procedure to remove/refit the replacement part. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA.

Hi there is a silver metal conductive wire comes out of thermostat about a foot long with a bulb shape on the end the bulb end is held next to ac pipe before evaporator with a u clip long time since changed one think it’s quite fiddly remember if the insulation around pipes is not covering pipes after repair you will get water dripping onto cab floor

Thanks for response Whine0. I can see the wire which disappears to air con pipes, but it is located behind heater blowers etc. I don't suppose anyone has a procedure handy for which components to remove, otherwise it's going to be "start on the outside and work inwards".

I have done one of these & came to the conclusion that it was easier to just bypass the original & fit a new one through a hole in the casing. It is a frost sensor to detect when the evaporator freezes up I taped the original up behind the heater & fitted a new one in its place, took out the resistor so I could see into the evaporator & drilled a hole in the casing & fitted the bulb end into the core of the evaporator - as from the eLearn it appears that the pipe enters through the two halves of the casing so unless you remove it complete & separate its not doable. Think it would work OK without it anyway for normal operation.
