Well tonight it was not raining so under I go...
Was staring at this puzzle for ages then the penny dropped.
had to remove a plastic cap and undo a 13mm nut.
the Gear Linkage Cable Control Pivot was rusted onto the shaft so after much swearing and cutting of hands it started to pop off..
I clean it all up greased the hell out of it and reassembled.
The Gear Linkage Cable Control Pivot (plastic C shape bit ) only pops onto a steel knuckle and is very weak. I have just put it back together for the minute, if it plays up I will have to replace it.
Woo whoo beer time 1st and 5th back in the game.....

More parts turned up today...
New exhaust hangers x2 fitted them after my dinner.
Got my spare NSF wing mirror out of storage and fitted that tonite as well.
Old one was bust. Electrics where fine but casing was flopping around.
After finding another exhaust hanger in very poor condition one with two holes. I jumped on ebay tonite and order a new one. The three hole exhaust hanger was just the same so found something similar and ordered that.
The door stay( I think its called is totally knackered on the drivers door and that turned up tonite as well. But after stripping one door card off I'd had enough for one night. So will leave that job for another day.
Been having a look under neath and its starting to get desperate for some TLC of the wax oil kind. So after all the shed work has been completed it will get a look at along with a few other jobs I noticed. Will end up being the worlds oldest new van at this at rate.. But still cheaper the restoring motorcycles.

That 3 hole rubber seems to be designed to disintegrate Prongs are noce and long so I replace with two heavy duty figure of 8 ones side by side.

Ive already ordered the new parts..
Been looking at jacking the back end of the van up. So been looking at axle stands. Looked on Facebook / gumtree / etc but Halfords are selling 2 Ton axle stands for £10 which is cheaper than people are selling them second hand.
I might go mad and spend £15 on the 3 ton versus. I want to get four as I wand to lift the van up. So I can get under it with my crawler board and get the job done quickly.
Im going to remove the rear suspension support brackets and get them sorted.
They need blasting, and then I will spray them in zinc paint and paint them black.

more parts turned up mid week so Wednesday night they got fitted.
So now its got all new exhaust hangers. All but one is stock as I decided to try a heavy duty poly bush type. Think I like these ones.. Mines red extra thick, so super heavy duty.
Thursday night bought some second hand parts.
I got sick to death of being showered in rusty metal every time I opened the bonnet, so that got binned. The interior light was bust by a ladder, so that got binned and replaced. The driver side sun visor was totally knackered, so that got the same treatment. After fitting the bonnet I noticed all the panel alignment is out on the drivers side wing so that's another little job for the future.
Was looking at the New Ducato van all 39 grands worth... So I think I will stick with my Grand's worth for the time being. No wonder these vehicle's have such dear parts.

All quite on the western front
Parts are waiting to be fitted like a new RHS drop link. But done nothing as i have been driving it about. Runs lovely. When I have finished my moves..It will be parked op and used as storage and I will start doing all the jobs on it that I wanted to do.

Banged the van in for its MOT, and it failed on the brake pads. Under 1.5mm. The discs where advisory last and the same this year.
So got my tools out and started dismantling. Parts cost £80 new discs and pads.
But found that some of the rubber seals are torn, plus one of the brake caliper guide slider pins was seized. So This has been dismantled and freed up.
Passenger side disc was behaving like it was welded on. Think someone parked my van in the sea lol. I had to smash it off with a lump hammer as it would not pull off. Drives side fell off when compared to the passenger disc. Which was a major relieve As this two hour job took all saturday, including chasing after parts and tools. Then half sunday.
The brakes are now all fixed and fingers crossed. It will pass the retest on monday afternoon.
Im planning to park it and remove one corner at a time and clean replaint as it getting very rusty under there. I had change lots of parts, Nuts bolts etc but you would, really struggle to notice, as everything looks like nothing was done?

took van to the MOT passed...job done...
but wait a minute whats that squeak...Oh dear damaged the wheel bearing on the passager side. So drove it home parked it up and started work on it getting the hub was hard work. But its been stuck in my vice very since.
took it to a mate with a 12 Ton bench press...epic fail...did nothing then chucked it in a bucket of diesel for two weeks and took down the local garage where it was pressed on a 15Ton press nothing.. so back to the bench. I hack sawed the front off and then cut slots at 90 degrees . i drilled into the slots and removed metal 2 teeth each each side and the axle popped out leaving the bearing. getting the Circlip (Snap Ring )out was a really bugger . Destroyed a few tools trying that. in the end I used the old method with two flat bladed screwdrivers as my circlip pliers where not up to the job.
When the axle flange was in and the bearing was moving, but when the circlip was taken out nothing on movement. I thought that it would be easy to get the remains of the bearing out (n)
Ive been watching U tube videos and they are using a die grinder or a welder, I've got welders and no die grinder so thats what I will be trying next.
The next head ache is to work out what parts I need at the right money as the auto factors want too much round my way. measured the bearing and found it on ebay but still struggling with the axle flange

Die grinder is a good investment but you'd be amazed how far a tiny dremel wheel will get you, 100 dremel discs is less than £10 delivered to the door from ebay and saves hours of fecking around.

Got the parts reassembled on the 12ton bench press..
Was debating weither to strip/ clean / paint the axle stub carrier as its cast iron/steel and mine was really rusty. But then I thought no as I wire wheeled one side and it was so shiny...Two day later after sitting on the bench and it was rusty again...
Then I realised that if the rust gets into the bearing then its a real pig to get apart...Just what you really want.. as you dont want those parts coming apart ever. Hopefully the job will out last the van shell. Its 2006 so that nearly 14yrs old and the older ones I've seen are rotten / had lots of work done or need doing to them. I really need to get into the arches and clean them out and paint them up...But cannot be bothered at the minute...The van is sitting in bits as I lost 10 bolts, 4 shock to axle bolts and the lower ball joint bolts, dealer wanted £37 for those bolts. I had to buy four of them from the dealer but the lower ball joint bolts are easy to get hold of on ebay. So just waiting for the bolts to turn up and will put the van on the road again..
