Hi All , not long ago purchased a 55 plate ducato 1.9 d campervan, have had problems starting in cold weather , turns over for ages sometimes fires some times not! , i have replaced the battery and glow plugs , she now starts every time but it can take 30-40 seconds , once started she will fire first turn of the key for the rest of the day, leave overnight and back to turning over for 30 plus seconds, anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks
John

Diesel draining back to the tank overnight. It's usually the return hoses on the injectors. Only a few quid to replace them do that first before going any further.

Sounds like an air leak on the fuel supply side, low pressure somewhere between the tank and the injector pump. It will probably not show while running as the pump creates suction so diesel doesn't leak out. Any perforation in fuel pipe, pipe joint, priming pump can cause it. Start at the tank and work forwards before you start it up in the morning, looking for diesel stains or even drips. Switch on the ignition then press the bleed pump repeatedly a few times before you start it, does it start more quickly then ? If so it's definitely taking air overnight.

thanks guys ,will give it a go and check all the fuel lines
