Hi there has anyone had this problem. Start and drive OK until I get eml light on engine stops won't restart until I turn key off for around 10 seconds then restart no problem. eml no codes sometimes when you turn the key off the engine runs on about two seconds seams to tail off the next time you start it the eml light is on. sometimes it runs fine for hours and sometimes stops every cupple of minutes I've cleaned the lift pump and changed the fuel filter anyone got any ideas dose it sound like an electrical fault or something else pretty much stumped at the moment

To start have you got a code reader if light on and off a code will be stored in ecu I have had similar issue on boxer 2litre exactly same engine and management system that was fuel related but to save us all guessing give us the p code get code reader!!

If I reset it running OK for a bit if I leave it on the engine runs on limp mode

I have tried unplugging the fuel relay and started it then retested it and no codes not sure if it would record a code for that tomorrow I will try and unplug the air flow meter that should record something, shouldn't it ?

If you unplug pressure sensor on rail , or regulator on pump is your reader getting code then I have many readers and some don’t always read Ducatos properly even with t10 removed you should read something

I tried t10 however it was working a few months ago I ran out of fuel and got a eml light had a code that was,, low fuel pressure

I could put up with the limp mode as I don't drive fast it's just the stalling in the most of silly places like at junctions and roundabouts pretty dangerous were you having the same fault with the Peugeot did you find the problem

The Peugeot would drive fine then just cut out it wouldn’t start again for 5 mins can’t remember p code but fault said fuel pressure monitor,, leak off test done number 3 injector totally gone filled bottle quick replace injector then ok for week then did it again it ended up having high pressure pump too job done annoying part for me was I could read target and actual high fuel pressure when fault occurred both perfect all time what code reader you using ?

What are you reading the codes with, most code readers give you crap with the 244 model. If the light is on there should be a code available.

I'll have to get back to you can't remember it was a ebay job but worked OK on that and many others I've had

Hi it's a u480 code reader it was working on the van but it has been sitting in the tray for a while so I am going to try it on another car to see if it works properly

Ducato 244 is not obd compliant so comparing to another car won't tell you much. I would plug out the rail sensor or an injector and see if it gives you the correct code.

Thanks for your kind offer Rob but I am at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, I have brake down but I wasn't wanting to use it as I can't guarantee thay would put it on the computer and if thay don't and tow me home it would be a waste of time

Do you have any idea I have just drove it round the block and when I stopped turned it off and took the keys out it was still running for a couple of seconds and faded out that can't happen on the newer diesels

Run-on can be leaky injectors or even worn piston rings or valve seals allowing oil into the cylinders. Modern diesels have a butterfly valve in the intake to stop run-on, I don't know if your engine has one or not. It looks like a throttle on a petrol engine. They re know to jam-up so worth checking.

I tried in plugging injector and tried air flow meter but still no codes however since I have unpluged the air meter it runs on every time I turn it off now I've tried to upload a video of it but won't let me

Hi check under plastic cover in middle remove 2 10mm nuts their are two electro solenoids that work the egr check all vacuum pipes on ok 2on each valve they also crack and split at connections, their used to be recall for them because the drain pipe at the bottom of each valve would suck water into valve
