This is to do with a 2.8Jtd (8140.43S) engine cooling system. It’s a 2002 base vehicle (built 2002) so second generation.
The thermostat assembly body is weeping from what appears to be a fissure in the assembly body where the temperature sender for the temperature gauge screws in.
The seal on the temperature sender is good so I’m certain that there is a fissure there especially as if I tighten the sender slightly the weeping increases.
So I have two questions . .
1. Is this repairable? All suggestions welcome especially if they save me money and effort. Whatever I do needs to be a reliable fix.
2. If as I suspect it’s not, my challenge is to track down the correct replacement part. Using the ePer I come up with a part number 50031009 . However I note that there are two alternate variances (which the ePer does not recommend) and certainly some of the on-line pictures I’ve seen don’t appear to quite tally with what I have – for instance http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Relay-Peugeot-Boxer-Fiat-Ducato-2-8-Jtd-Thermostat-Housing-/222674789558?hash=item33d873a4b6:g:5ckAAOSwA2hZsv~2 claims to be compatible but is slightly different.
