Gday, just wondering if anyone has managed to remove the 2.3 or 3.0 comfort matic gearboxes without taking the engine out with it and splitting it?
cheers

the gearboxes are the same whether conformatic or manual and yes you can remove the gearbox and leave the engine in place i use an engine crane to support the gearbox end of the engine then remove the rear mount ive seen cradles made up the fit on a trolley jack that support the engine as well Cheers Adam

Thanks for the reply Adam. Ive done the manual gearboxes and I know they swing past the chassis once off the gearbox mount and engine lowered. I just didn't think the gear selection actuator and c/s bottle would swing past the chassis. I know Fiats E-Learn says the engine has to come out to replace it.
Do you take th K-frame out to remove?
Thanks mate

from what ive been told and seen you have to remove the shifter assembly off the box and go from there once the fronts off radiator included theres plenty of room to move

hi you need to get jacked it high enough to to get the gearbox out from under the bumper we stood mine on stands the gear selector was left on the box the engine has to be lowered enough so the box passes under the chassis but needs to be turned so the selector can pass underneath dont forget the 2 little bolts holding the conversion plate between the engine & the box should take you about 3 hour max ( 2 men )as you can see the slam panel has to come off
