Hi all,
I've got a 2014 Ducato van (pre-facelift) with the W16W type bulb in the door mirrors indicators. Now thanks to a truck driver one of the mirrors recently got ripped off as he passed me whilst veering onto my side of the road.
I've since purchased another complete electric mirror (used) but have now found out that it has the older W5W indicator bulb and is giving dash error messages. So I ordered a W16W bulb but after installing it I'm still getting error messages on the dash and the bulb is very dim when lit. I also tried the W16W bulb from the other door mirror to make sure it wasn't the bulbs, but got the same result.
Given the above, is it likely that the mirror has some internal circuit board that can detect the different bulb types? as the wiring for the mirrors plugs and bulb holder are identical. I've checked the remains of the old mirror and the only place I can presume a circuit board would be is in the mirrors motor housing?
So I just need to know if I need to buy another complete W16W door mirror or if I can simply swap over any of the internals from the original mirror so the new bulb works at full brightness and the "check light" error message stops.
TIA
