hi i'm new to this forum i've got a 57 plate fiat ducato 160 multijet 3.0 diesel and my battery light is flashing also got no remote locking with the fobs no radio and no main beam has anyone got any ideas or know of a good auto electrician in the liverpool area thanks paul

hi slowpace the battery is fully charged i should of added what happened i couldn't get the van to start it would turn over but not start got the aa out and he kept turning the engine over and over he put a diagnostic machine on and said it was the throttle pedal went out and got one put it on and it was still the same aa recovered me to a garage and the mechanic said it was diesel fuel filter he replaced it and got it running that's when i had those problems i listed in my opening blog

Check f71 maxi fuse on the battery they all have that in common, may have been shorted out by starterpack / jump leads (although if f71 gone I would expect no lights at all)

Also check f31, f36, f37, f38, f39 in left hand fusebox.

Is radio totally dead or just not unlocking via CAN bus?

hi corcai when the aa came out the battery wasn't flat he kept on trying to start the engine with the key as i found out later it was the diesel fuel filter was blocked the radio won't come on at all and when i finish work i'll check those fuses you mentioned thank you for your advice

Radio is supplied by battery through f71 then f39 to pin 4 on connector A on the radio. If you have no 12v at pin4 on the radio it should be easy to trace.

F39 is 10A think its second from the left at the bottom in the left hand fuse box.

F71 is 80A in standard van think its the white one here:

just got a friend of mine to check the fuses all the fuses seem to be ok but fuses 14&15 7.5amp in engine bay not blown but no power to them same thing with fuses 12&13 7.5 amp and 40&41 15amp swapped with new fuses but have not blown but seems not powered up could it be any relays? thanks again for any help

I would start with one thing and in your case it is the main beams which are protected by F14 & F15, one for each side.
The circuit is fairly easy to understand.
F70 battery fuse feeds voltage to switch contact 30 of Relay T02.
The other relay switch switch contact 87 feeds power to F14 & F15.
The relay coil gets positive volts on contact 85 when the ignition is on.
The relay coil gets negative voltage on contact 86 from the body computer when main beams are switched on.

From your diagnosis so far it appears that F70 or T02 are not switching positive volts to F14 & F15. Of course neither of the fuses will get power unless the relay is operated, i.e. the ignition is on and main beam selected. Did you check them that way? Is relay T02 being switched ON? Hopefully it will be something simple and not the body computer itself.

Did he definitely check the maxi fuses on the battery? I would suspect ignition switch at this stage especially after all the cranking.

First check with ignition on you should have 12V on orange/black wires and blue/red wires from the ignition switch.

Then check you should have 12v on both sides of f38.

12 & 13 are the dips they will only have power when the dips are on you said you had only lost main beam - are dips not working also?
With ignition on you should have 12v on pins 30 and 85 of the relay t01.

14 & 15 are supplied by the main beam relay
With ignition on you should have 12v on pins 30 and 85 of the relay t02

40 & 41 are window / mirror demisters
With ignition on you should have 12v on pins 30 and 85 of the relay t11.

hi thank you to the forum for all your information about my van apologies for lack of activity as i've been in hospital which relays are t01,t02 and t11 once again many thanks for the vast amount of help

hi just an update on the van an auto spark has said it's the B U S computer that's causing the problems i have mentioned before does anyone know anything about this or where i can obtain the necessary parts once again thanks for any help
