Hi All

Please can anyone help me with regards to the Crankcase Breather System on a Fiat Ducato 2.8JTD , year 2005, 62000 miles, actually on my Motorhome.

Is there any thing such as a filter or a oil catch container that needs cleaning or changing , the reason i am asking is because some times the exhaust pushs out some excessive smoke and i am currently changing all the filters to try to stop this.
Many Thanks

I've got the same motor and I'm no expert, but when you remove the air filter and the "can assembly" it sits in, there's a small egg-cup sized oil trap with some rubber pipes attached to it, which I suspect stops oil mist being drawn into the air filter. Could be a red herring but worth looking at?

Thanks Shingy for your help

I can see what appears to be a small filter attached by a pipe to the bottom of the air filter housing, so i will have a look at that to see if is clean, the other side of the filter has a pipe going to a box attached to the engine. which may also catch oil, i will try to find out what that box does and if it can be cleaned.

Where that small pipe enters the air filter box, you can detach it from the box by grasping it and giving it a quarter turn, then withdrawing it. Its almost like a bayonet fitting.
