hi all. bit of a problem re---1996 2.5 tdi ducato motorhome accidentley left a couple of things plugged in over a period of 3 weeks went to start van tottally flat battery when checked only read 4.3 volts so i had to take it off van rigged it up to car battery with jump leads to bring it back up to 11.0 volts so it would accept charge from battery charger. anyway once charged 14.0volts put it back on van switched on ignition engine turned over but would not start noticed key symbol on dash (never had that before) would appear immobiliser has wiped its memory so i need to locate immobiliser so where is it and what does it look like as it looks like i am going to have to find away to bypass it. i have found a way to start it by running a positive live to pump seloniod which seems to work ok but i would prefer to bypass immobiliser. any information would be welcome. thank you.

Having had a 1998 Pilote on a Boxer I know mine didn't have any electronics or anything clever. It did not have a 'smart' key, just a plain metal one. From my experience I would ask you, does yours have an aftermarket alarm, do you have a keyfob ? If you do in fact have an immobiliser what do you think is used to set it and unset it when it is working ?

Just been doing a bit of googling, looks like my 98 Boxer differs vastly from your 96 Ducato. I found these which you make have seen already ....

you should have a red fiat code key you put it in the ignition and it resets for you.you can then use your black key as normal.:)

thanks for info yeah i knew about red key unfortunatly i never received one when i purchased van (these things do happen with a 20yr old van ) never the less solved the problem by a direct fused lead from fuse box to the fuel feed seloniod on the pump then removed bulb from key symbol on instrument panel have also fitted a hidden switch immobiliser so if the battery was accidently discharged again now cannot wipe the memory hope this info may prove useful if same or similar whereto happen to someone else. jt
