Hi guys,
I'm back, a few months the van has been lying up with permanent P2563 code.
Got round to having a look with a Peugeot and recently fiat mechanic,
He did a few things with his snap on diagnostic box,
Told me to try the vacuum solenoid (fitted rear of that white panel that hangs down central of engine bay)

This has been fitted, still same issue,

Now one question is I've heard of folk fitting a new turbo, and still having issues, due to broken wiring, anyone here had this, and where were the broken wires located?

I'm thinking blower, but it's an expensive fault find,

My mechanic mate says could be either, but he's now 100 miles away and it took him 3 months to tell me to try the solenoid

Any ideas or pointers greatly appreciated

Ps it's a 2012 euro 5 3.0 180bhp

Cheers
Neil

Cheers Mike

My feelings are turbo,
But been told could be wiring, and also now been told it could be vacuum pipe pin hole, and to do tests of vacuum, all stuff way above my skills and knowledge
Going to have to face the music, and book her in,
There's a diesel and turbo place in Coventry so going to contact them,
Prob is, is if it's worth the repair, 350,000 miles but van looks new!
Runs like new when fault codes cleared (for anything from 10 seconds to a minute)

Doesn't the 180 have an electronic actuator not vacuum and the p2563 error means the position is implausible so either

position is actually wrong
  • vanes are sticking
  • actuator malfunctioning

or ecu thinks position is wrong
  • position sensor is dead / feeding incorrect data to the ecu
  • wiring is damaged e.g. short, open

Yes it does have electronic actuator, fitted to turbo (not available separate) but there is also a vacuum system (the big square block located on the white bracket top centre of engine bay, which has a solenoid valve on rear of bracket, prone to water ingress.

The rest you list could be an issue, but so many folk saying it could be this could be that, all mechanics, but unable to say it IS this or that,

It's going in to a diesel and turbo remanufactures later today for a proper diagnosis, have a feeling it's going to be more than vans worth but fingers crossed it isn't :)

Looked up the number of the sensor and it looks like its used in a lot of VAG and SKODA group vehicles so if it is the sensor it should be available readily.

This should be it:

May I ask how you got to that part?
As Fiat don't list it, as its only available with turbo, and what turbo p/no are you looking at, just so I can check against my fitment
Cheers

Forget fiat they don't provide subparts for most things, good chance iveco would supply it.

Turbo is made by garrett and the sensor is made by honeywell

I googled the garret part number for the turbo to get the honeywell part number for the sensor.

Honeywell number is supposed to be 7088095 which according to various suppliers is interchangable with

769566-0005 and 769566-0006

I assume the honeywell part number is moulded onto it somewhere to double check.

Turbo is goosed, so she's having a new one, pipes and a few other bits & bobs,
