Hi - I own a Fiat Ducato Trigano Tribute motorhome (58 plate, approx 33,000 miles on the clock.) Yesterday the engine fired up ok, however when I stopped to pick up a paper and returned to the van it would not start. When the ignition key was turned none of the usual dashboard lights came on. I made several attempts to restart, but to no avail. RAC called out and technician attempted to start the van - no luck, although the dash lights came on very briefly and then went out. Technician's advice was that there was a fault with the ignition barrel switch? and this needed to be replaced. He advised me that he had been called out to another 58 Ducato in the last few days which had the same problem! RAC relayed the van back to my local garage for repair to be carried out. Before leaving the van I tried the ignition - as Victor Meldrew would say "I don't believe it" when the dash lights came on and the engine fired up! Has anyone else experienced an intermittent ignition problem with their Ducato and what was the solution?
Any advice would be appreciated.
