Technical Electrical nightmare - screen washer gremlin

OK, just to update. Apologies for not doing so until now. I basically put in a push to make switch on the Pin 3 of the connector A that wasn't giving the expected reference earth, to a good known ground and fitted it to the dash beside the headlight raise and lower buttons. Works a treat, just have to press the button a couple of times to spray the screen and as my wipe cycle works anyway that solves works around the problem.

Cheers again for your assistance

FYI
I recently had this problem on my 244 and it was the corrosion off the plug on the pump (which was also the first thing I checked).
Some brushing (with a brass brush) on the contacts and the plug and everything worked again. I also applied some silicon grease, so it can withstand corrosion better.

I also had trouble with some other electrical problems on my ducato in the past and so far it was NEVER in the relay or electronics (but in the plugs, wires).

So I strongly recommend checking the plug at the pump.

Me too!

I have been having some issues with wipers and headlights not working and sent off my body computer to get tested and repaired (thanks to Peter Remmington from Auto Tec Diagnostics £220 all in, posted on monday, back fri lunchtime). Anyway it can back with a repaired logic chip but with an advisory that it was damaged by a loom crossover (short/open) and that fitting it without a repair to the wiring would just damage the unit again.

Anyway the upshot is I had to do extensive loom testing starting at the screenwasher circuit which I bypassed before with the switch and now discovered the socket for the 86 pin of the washer relay in the engine fuse box appears to have a short to earth of relatively high resistance so appears I may have to replace the engine fuse box.

I have seen a number of engine fuse boxes (different part numbers) for the x250, they look identical but not sure what they look like inside! Anyone have any idea if they are all likely to be the same?
