Why would you want to do that, the fuel temperature sensor is there to protect the injection system by limiting injected quantity when the fuel temperature is too high.

I want to change the fuel filter to a better type than the poor leaking plastic type fitted and the fuel temp sensor is in the top of the filter

They only leak when not fitted correctly, fit using a correct tool, procedures and torque to 30nm and it won't leak, just a passing thought

mine was fitted with the tool and it still leaked after 400mile
it was pissing out lost 6 gallon of diesel
as I was on my hols with no tools the AA came out and took it apart with pipe grips got me top Scotland and back but still damp on the filter
this motor has had 3 filters in in in the last 3 years and only 11000 on the clock
if you go on the net this is a common fault on fiats that why I want to replace it

Yes common due to what I've said, the bowls get distorted in a vice and pipe wrenches etc damage the lids, I'm only pointing out the whys, I had it when my old 57plate had the issue, so I just got main dealer after that to change the fuel filter, never leaked again,
I am only passing on my knowledge from what I have learned, I have 4 services a year, as I do 100,000 miles a year, I'm offering an experienced answer to your question

I will never ever change the filter cartridge again. Got a new housing from Fiat last year: costs a fortune but thank god it doesn't leak. The old screw-on filter from the 244 chassis is much better but it has no sensors for water and temp. Also doesn't have the "quick-lock" connectors, so in my opinion it doesn't suit your needs.

the pipe work is the ok to do 1 pipe is 10mm and 1 is 8mm so 2 push fits will do that
I was thinking of leaving the old filter on with the temp sensor to keep the eml off and just fitting a new filter
I was thinking of fitting the filter from the new ducato of the fiat qubo 2 pipes push on fittings and has a water sensor

There are other jtd / multijet cars with spin on filters, temp and wif sensors. The 2000/2001 model ducato, doblo some alfas loads of others. Trip to scrapie. You have to make sure whatever filter you get is suitable for common rail it's a very low micron filter.

I have the 2014 ducato 180 which has the new metal canister filter. Go to a fiat dealer and they will charge a whopping £97.00. UFI say they do the new metal filter but they do not fit correctly. On my old 57 ducato 160 it had the plastic canister and the inner filter was only about £8.00. As long as it was changed correctly with the correct torque it was fine. The problem starts when not using the correct torque/tools etc.

I did use the tool to do it and the last time it did not leak for 400 mile as I was on the m6 I did not have the tool with me and it was 12 midnight what a crap filter also they crack
you must be going to the wrong place for a filter fiat are a rip off on price
try euro car parts

Euro car parts do the filter but it is made by UFI (About £65.00) and def will not fit correctly. I have had this out with the fiat dealer. They got the hump because I got an independant garage to do the first 30000 service. They had to go to the main dealer for the fuel filter. The fiat filter does not have the manufacturers details anywhere on the casing. Even indi garage says that 30000 miles is too long a service interval. I now have a service plan in place where oil and filter is changed every 15000. (off topic slightly).
