I have a 2000 2.8 Based ducato motorhome (A class), it's a low milage and 2 owners, I have a wad of bills and cannot see anything relating to wheel bearing so assume the originals were (note the "were") still fitted. Last year I had a garage do some work, inc change the wheel bearings, they came back with a silly price for them, so I trundled of to Europarts and brought some SKF ones using the chassis number/Reg. The garage said these were incorrect and said they would get them swapped, finally they did but also said the ones they originally obtained were also wrong.... To cut a long story short they fitted Wing Wang ching Chang cheapo ones and I don't feel safe with 3.7tons on something like that so now I have some time want to swap them for some FAG or SKF.. tools and presses etc are not a problem have a few friends who deal with big Plant stuff, however, I don't want to have the front end up with the hubs off in a mates workshop while we Franny about trying to source bearings...
So any ideas why the bearings purchased were incorrect? (garage were useless, and still are) are there a couple of options for that year?
Is there a change over around then?
Tried a few places and get the feeling they all use the same database to look up the bearings....

Any help much appreciated...
Cheers

There are different hubs depending on gross vehicle weight, and bearings changed in 2001. One possible explanation of confusion is your camper may be on lightweight hubs but manufacturer 'uprated' the chassis thats pretty common. The only way to be fairly sure is to search eper with your vin number.

cheers for the fast response...
it's a 3.5t Hymer but has been plated down for the UK, it can be replated to 3.9t

I'll check out the link.. many thanks again...
(Should have come and asked here in the first place...)

Great....
it shows 2 different front drive shafts and bearing configurations....
well it's better than what I had to start with....

Thanks again...

According to eper its as I suspected - the 14Q chassis they've uprated so you have lightweight hubs, brakes etc.
