Hi All,

I have a 1999 Fiat Ducato Motorhome (2.8 TD) and I have had a problem with the fuel gauge and temperature gauge, it sits on zero and the temperature seems to be higher than it should be. I looked on a similar thread and it suggested that there is a controller (A643 or A463) that is located alongside the relay array that is the issue.

I have looked at the terminals on this controller board and cleaned them up, I have checked continuity from plug to controller and its ok and still there is a problem, when the plug goes in halfway in and the green and yellow cable does not make contact then the gauge shows what should be approximately in the tank. I have since (temporarily) removed the green and yellow cable from the plug and connected the controller, the result is that the light for low fuel comes on and the gauge seems to work.

I was wondering if anyone has come across this before and if so what was the solution? I am thinking of going to a scrap yard to source another controller to give that a try so rule that out?

Thanks in advance.

Jamie

Hi. I have exactly the same problem with the same van- same year! Just one difference- my temp gauge struggles off the bottom and stays there.
The speedo hangs on until about 20mph, then jumps and begins to work.
Oddly, the trip and mileage eters seem unaffected by this erratic speedo.
The only thing that seems to work correctly is the rev counter, Im glad about that one.
I spoke to a commercial truck garage and was told that historically the whole Ducato instrument panel i.e. speedo, temp, etc is utter crap!!And, that I shouldnt worry about it.
cheers Steve
