Does anybody know what temperature the thermal fuse is on the resistor, I can't read anything on the old one.

OK, I did a bit of searching, I went and got a thermal fuse 184 C, That was the only one I could get, I think the original may be 215 C but not sure, too hard to read. I snipped the old one out leaving enough of the connecting wire to attach the new one to. I didn't want to have to silver solder the new one on due to heat problems with the fuse! so I got an old electrical connector block, cut it in half , stripped the plastic off and used this instead, simple and effective, connected up and hey presto it works!. The problem to start with was a half seized fan motor, Freed that up and ran it in the lathe for a while, plenty of oil on the bushings, and now all is fine, BTW the fuse was about €1.20. Hope this helps somebody. Pics attached.

Hello Digger
Is this resistor normally shorted out by the fuse? What is the resistor value? Is it for a 2.8JTD?
I ask because my heater fan seems sick after running for a while and I will have to do the big strip to check it out?

Hi, Yes this is in a 2.8JTD, I couldn't read the value of the fuse properly but I think it is 215 C, If the resistor has failed it is probably due to the fan motor being half seized up. mine has A/C and it was a b...h of a job to remove the motor, however everything is fine now. If anyone knows of a good source of thermal fuses please let us know.

what have you done to me already done in my peugeot 97 years and you're right it is 215, all mode have the same type of collateral, except that I soldered on it does not have the teeth melted solder temperature, can not remember exactly but the temperature flux is about 250C, somewhere on the forum is a similar topic in which I described, that if the fan operates only in 4th gear is damaged has just this small thermal resistor. All models ducato peugeot citron from 94 -00 May the same module. sorry for the spelling

Great at last somebody has confirmed the fuse is 215C, I used the connectors as I didn't want any hassle with high heat near the fuse, I suppose you could use a heat sink to keep it away from the fuse but my repair can be done anywhere.

The heater fan in my Ducato 250 packed it in so I decided to install a new resistor. This worked for about 10 minutes on full speed only before the fan stopped completely. Took out both the resistor and the fan (easy job) to inspect the problem.
There is always a reason for a fuse to blow. Nothing wrong with the resistor itself, but the lower fan bearing was rusted to the fan axle due to moisture from the fan itself. My car is a motor home and the intervals between use can be long in winter. Thus the rust.
Took the fan bearing apart , cleaned it and greased it up. Installed an new fuse on the resistor (£ 2.99).Great result. Fan works perfectly on all speeds.
Morals: always look for the real reason for a blown fuse.

Good fix . . I pulled the speed controller from my 08 thinking the resistor had blow ,as was only working on full speed . . Cleaned the connections . . Works on all speeds perfectly ?
