6 month old Ducato, although rear doors are closed the warning light and alarm keep coming on, help please?

There should be a micro switch some where, either that's faulty or it needs re-positioning.

Switches for rear doors are in the locks. There are contacts on the side door which may not be making properly.

Looks like a warranty issue then. Had hoped sensor was in an obvious place

open side door(s) all the way, using long nosed pliers pull out the plunger between the door contacts at the rear of the door, use a mirror if it helps.
Pull plunger out slightly and that should be enough;)

Check the top and bottom strikers are not bent and not sitting and making contact correctly
I carry spares as fork lift trucks tend to bend them loading pallets,

Not exactly sure what you mean?
Strikers? Presumably that us where the doors actually lock into?

Im still unsure where the sensor is, I wish I could just disabke the function easily as it is totaly unnecessary

Switches (sensors as you call them) are part of the lock catch (the parts on the door) yes the strikers are the parts on the van body. The lower striker if bent will not sit correctly in the catch when doors closed, and cause problems locking door / door open light on dash

Sorted under warranty at main dealers.
It was the sensor on the SIDE door,
