My two previous motohomes didn't even have electric windows, never mind an ECU, so I'm a bit nervous about the potential for problems on the current 244 Maxi base.

I'm considering purchasing a code reader to get some pointers if any faults develop so have been looking on-line.

I was quite surprised to see some kits retailing for less than £20 as I was expecting to pay £100+. These are all labelled as ELM327 USB OBD2 version 1.5, would anyone know if these will do the job OK, I realise that I also need a laptop.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've just bought a 2009 120 multi-jet and have the same fears! So I'll be waiting for similar replies, please........

Hi. I am using a Bluetooth adapter £10ish on EBay with afree program named "torque" which will work on android based smart phones.

I have used it on several vehicles now and it does the jobnicely.

It will re-set the management light and if it detects afault the phone will connect to the internet for an explanation of the codes.

It does lots of other things as well, and can read variousengine functions whilst on the move, very impressed with it.

As well as your laptop and OBD2 cable, you'll need the software - namely "FiatEcuScan", or FES, for short. Just vist "www.fiatecuscan.net" and you'll get their website. It costs 50 euros for the software license. Of course, it's available for "free download" with a Google search...
