Hi
The O/S side lights (front and rear) have gone off on my X250.
I have pulled every fuse out of all 3 fuse boxes (inside, center column and under bonnet) and all seem ok. Even pulling out all the fuses the N/S lights stay on which makes me think I am missing something can anyone help please.

The X250 handbook I have says the side lights have a fuse F58 (10 A) in the "right central post optional fuse box" in the cab. p 184. Maybe you missed that one?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have checked that fuse, Strange thing is, even with it remoed the N/S side lights still work ok. Its just the O/S that has stopped working which made me think that there must be 2 fuses

The X250 does not have fuses for the sidelights. They are switched via outputs from the ECU, one for each side I believe. If it is a motorhome any side marker lamps are buffered via an interface circuit so that they do not put a load on the original circuits and cause lamp fail indications. Motorhome manufacturers do their own thing and each may have a different way of doing it.

This may help

Thanks for the info guys, I am starting to understand the system.

Anyone know where I can get the workshop manuals from?

Hi
I was able to replicate the same fault i.e. no side lights front or rear when I replaced one of the number plate illumination lights with a 10 watt bulb instead of a 5 watt bulb
They looked the same "shape and size" but I never checked the wattage on the replacement and it tripped the circuit out
Simple but stupid mistake and easily made

When I replaced the 10 watt bulb with the proper 5 watt bulb the sidelights worked as they should have
I did not have to do anything else but an friendly auto spark told me that the system will trip out if anything but the correct wattage bulb is used
Cost me a couple of pints but I will be giving my business to this guy in the future

Hectorshouse:
Any update on the sidelights issue?
I've now got a very similar issue after one tail light filled up with water and started a similar sequence of events

This may be helpful to many.
I have a Fiat based 2011 motorhome and had a problem with the OS sidelights (including OS reg plate light) suddenly going off. I checked all the fuses and found them AOK; took it to the local garage and they discovered on their computer that my model did not have a fuse for the sidelights! Every other light but not the sidelights. Crazy. They were unable to offer a solution.
Consulted the regional Fiat dealer and they were unable to offer a solution (WHAT???) but refered me to a commercial dealer - North Eastern Truck and Van Centre, Clifton Moor, York.
They were brilliant. Turns out that when I replaced a rear sidelight bulb I had put it in the wrong way so the brake (25watt) and sidelight (10 watt) element connections were reversed. I didn't know you could put a bulb in the wrong way so take care when doing this.
As a result the entire sidelights circuit from the CAN bus was tripped out because of the excessive current draw on the sidelight . Strangely the brake light continued to work but the side lights didn't. Weird.
Anyhow the very helpful guy sorted it out in ten minutes and - no charge!
All he had to do was put the bulb in the right way round and hey presto - all back to normal. (And I had been worried about a huge bill for tracing and diagnosing the fault).
Will definitely be using them for my servicing and MOTs in future.
