Has someone installed rear view camera on Fiat Ducato Van 250?
What is the best solution and place for rear view camera?
Original camera price without display costs 1.100 eur!!

Unfortunately it is difficult to get a "best solution". I've fitted 40+ cameras to Ducatos and mount the camera above the rear doors facing down. The purpose of this is so drivers can back up to loading ramps, hopefully stopping before they hit. These vehicles have rear steps which are stowed under the bumper, and we have had a lot damaged in the past from concrete loading bays leaping forward and hitting the vans!! Also it gives a clear view if pedestrians are walking behind, usually covering an area wider than the van and 3m plus behind.
The disadvantages of this camera location are rear perspective,ie. not a great view behind if you want to keep an eye on following traffic, or a trailer being towed, and most importantly, no height cover, ie. you may not see overhanging verandahs, tree branches, etc.
The second option is to face the camera back (not down). This will give you a larger view behind the van, and is better for traffic view (if switched on when going forward, which most cameras can do). If mounted low down, any obstruction on the ground can be seen.
The disadvantages of this are sunstrike-if the camera is horizontal you are more likely to get morning or evening sun shining directly onto the camera, which destroys any chance of seeing anything; harder to keep lens clean; if mounted high up, you may not see children or wheelchairs behind you.
The best option is to mount and wire the monitor, run the camera cables, and use double sided tape to try different camera positions.

Nice job, Peter M, looks good. We only fit one camera on the fleet vehicles for 2 reasons- first= cost, second= most of the steerers couldn't work out how to toggle between the two. Mind you there are some nice split screen monitors out now, you can see both views at once, then bring a full screen view up as required.
In terms of wiring, we often pick a feed up from one of the reverse lamps, as the camera needs power as well as the monitor, so the power comes from the lamp, to the cam, then forward in the multi core cable to the monitor.
We use 2 cameras on large mobile cranes, one to the rear, the other on the right front, facing slightly rearward, as these are left hand drive cranes, and the operators rely on the camera view to pull out into traffic when turning left.
Avoid wireless cameras, I have yet to find one that works well in an automotive situation.

Thanks Arkk and PeterM,

I have solution to put PIONEER AVH-3300BT , double DIN mulltimedia with PARROT BlueTooth,DVD,MP3 and rear view camera in.

Also i'm driving van whole day thru town and reversing every 10 minutes,i mounted parking sensors but i'm not satisfaied with them,so this is the reason that i want to mount rear view camera because i cannot see pedestirans and little walls when i going reverse.

I called FIAT DEALER , just upper original brake light with camera costs 1.200 eur!!

Nice looking unit. My only concern would be quality. Do you know someone that has used this unit. I am not familiar with this system, but have found that when many functions are crammed into one unit in automotive electronics, it often lowers the ability of each function to perform to usual expectations. I think for safety devices and security devices, stand alone units are often the best.

There are lots of multimedia systems but 90% are made in china.
This PIONEER AVH-3300BT is produced by pioneer,my good frend is seeling this stuff and he told me that this device is reading all discs , and the best thing is that this device has BlueTooth by PARROT installed in it.
It has DVD , FM , MP3 , USB IN , Ipod , and also video in for rear view camera.
Also i get adapter for 2DIN device , plastic mask originaly for Fiat Ducato,so there is no drilling.
My friend told me that optional for PIONNER is this camera,so please tell me your opinion abot this camera(picture attached-mounted on CROSSFIRE so you can see dimension of camera)
Overview for camera from PIONNER :
This high-quality NTSC universal camera projects a mirror-image on your in-car screen, making it ideal for depicting what you would normally not see in a rear-view mirror.
The high-sensitivity lens has a sight line of 135 degrees and an embedded chip which automatically adjusts brightness in light or dark driving conditions.
The ND-BC4 can be hooked up to any of our systems with a rear camera input. Its compact size allows for installation in virtually any location.

Has anyone fitted a rear view camera and frt. monitor to a Ducato 2007- model Motorhome and is it pre-wired for these as I see a spare connection near the back bumper. Cheers

Is this spare connection for video and where is located exactly?

It is just alongside the waste tank on a motorhome its 2pin socket and I was hoping it might be for a camera, its too cold and wet ATM to check it further.

I have a 2007 Fiat Ducato 160. As far as I am aware the wiring and conctors are already are already there in situ above the headlining between the sun visors. I think you may have to buy the roof parcel shelf. I have attached a pic of mine. Regards.

That looks much neater than most aftermarket jobbies... Any idea on the cost of the shelf?

This shelf is great thing!!!
I think if you buy as accesori you will pay too much, only if someone has van for parts, the price will be much afordable

I fitted 2 cameras to the rear of my '08 Ace Milano Motorhome. The reversing camera is fitted at high level looking down, it gets it's power from the reversing light.
The other camera is a surface mounted one fitted in the rear wall adjacent to the kitchen window. This gets it's power from an ignition switched supply at the front.
The monitor is fitted over the rear view mirror.
Problems, the two cameras are not completely compatible and the monitor brightness requires adjustment between the 2 cameras.
Another problem is the rear view camera at night time! It has infra red illumination which is affected by streetlights so the camera flickers in brightness as you drive under the streetlights.
I intend to purchase 2 new compatible cameras, one WITHOUT the IR illumination for rear view use.

I have a 2009 Ducato 120 multijet, long wheel base campervan. Behind the third, upper brake light is a spare socket, fed by three cables. Would this be for a reversing camera? If so, where's the end by the dashboard area? Would that be between the sun visors?

FYI
Info for X250

Anyone got a similar diagram for a Ducato X250 Motorhome fitting as no cable behind rear high vis brake lamp.

If you can get a small camera, at just under £18this looks like a cheap little LCD screen to use with it.

If I ever plump for reversing sensors I think I'll go for this at the same time as I have cameras.

Checked all around rear high lamp defo no spare cable now if I only knew where the light feed comes up through the bodywork I might have some chance of feeding some cables through it that way.:(
