Technical Leaf Springs

I've just bought a 2008(58) Ducato Maxi 3.0 thats bodied as a recovery truck. I wish to upgrade the rear leaf springs with stronger ones that will carry the weight better and hold the body more 'level' when loaded. Any ideas, suggestions or advice as to how to do this would be much appreciated. Regards, CHT.

You can get an uprated double leaf spring, I dread to think how much they cost. Your best bet may well be air suspension, I have a mate who put some on his Renault Master flat bed tipper, he says it allows him to put more weight on but still set the suspension to maintain a level stance and so avoid the eyes of the law.

I'm not sure, but if you do a search you will find loads of suppliers. I bought some for my old shape Ducato motorhome from Cleveland Motorhomes. The kits range from fairly low tech (pump them up with a little 12v compressor) to fully automatic. I opted for the cheaper version which cost about £250 ish if i remember correctly.
The air bags replace the bump stop/spring assistors, then its just a case of piping them up, fitting some sort of guage and a fitting to pump them up.
