I am considering fitting a cruise control to my 2006 2.8JTD van. Several old threads asked for advice and received none (n).
One thread mentioned using a mechanical (I think that means vacuum linkage to throttle?). But evidently electronic is also possible since the 2.8JTD is a drive by wire system (?).

Please help. I need to know some detail, not just a referral to http://www.conrad-anderson.co.uk which may indeed be the best, but which of their vast range is the most suitable?

I have been using this electronic type of cruise control on both my new shape Ducato works van and my 54 plate 2.8 Autotrail for a couple of years and rate them highly.
I'm trading the Autotrail this weekend and have just taken my kit off, it is in perfect condition with the CM30 control stalk as shown in your link, all for sale if you fancy it

Hi Stu
Interesting. Would you please post the model number(s) for whatever in addition to the CM30 control stalk is necessary?

Perhaps you could PM me an idea of price including postage? Note that it would need to be sent to Australia.

Thanks

Bump....

A CM30 command module seems good. But which actuator do I look to? A mechanical one such as the AP300 or will one of the electronic ones such as AP800 work with the Ducato 2.8JTD electrics? That is my big question (well, its big for me:confused:).

Well, nothing much from the Forum, but I have just had a Cruise Control fitted to the Ducato 2.8JTD. And its a fully drive-by-wire unit that plugs into the ECU and teaches itself how to work!

Its a LiteOn Command AP900 (http://dunyoung.com/?structure=en&module=products&id=9#ap900s) unit which is fully compatible with CAN bus signals, and the half-baked lot from the 244 engine ECU. The command module is a Command CM30, a steering-column mounted stalk switch. Of course, since the vehicle has a manual transmission, there is also a clutch switch.

Its installation was arranged by my local Fiat Commercial service agent (Southern Euro, Dandenong South). The Service Manager said that they have these units after-market fitted to the newer X250s too, so they really are versatile.
