Hi All

I have a 1996 2.5TD Ducato based Hymer B534.

Returning from Hampshire on Sunday I noticed that my fuel guage and temperature guage were both reading zero, pulled over and found that the number one fuse had blown, tried replacing it but it blows as soon as you turn on the ignition. Main problem, being that I had also lost indicators, so had to drive home using hand signals as best as we could.

So far I have disconected both ends of the fuel guage and sender and fuse still blew. Hazard warning functions so assume indicator circuit is OK, checked reversing light bulbs.

As it goes as soon as I turn on the ignition this leaves only the temperature guage (I think).

Any ideas on how to go about finding this fault as I can't afford to take it to a garage at this point.

Thanks

For anyone interested in this, I had a go at trying to locate the fault yesterday, and now have everything back working.

Removed the lower portions of the dash to get at the wiring, unclipped the speedo cable from a grommet under the bonnet to allow me to push the instrument binacle forward enough to unclip the cable at that end, then tested all the plugs and the flimsy circuit board on the back with my Multimeter, everything seemed fine.

Got in behind the speedo area to the mass of wires and found a wire that had been rubbing on metal and had gone through the insulation causing the short.

Have now re-wrapped that and done my best to secure all the wiring up off of metal parts.
