Jeez dude things MUST be tight!

How much are we talking here... a few Euro's?

The rocker cover gaskets are usually once only compressable.

Sure use it again... lose your oil, slowly if you're lucky...

Seriously though... No... fit a new one as you normally would.(y)

About 35 euro plus an hour round trip to collect it so another 10 euro diesel and lost time.

Old mechanic tells me that with the alloy valve cover the cover is compressed onto standoffs so there is metal to metal contact and the gasket is only partially compressed and never gets squashed unevenly as with the older pressed steel valve covers. So he says reuse it no problem 90% of the time.

I always use gasket compound on mine, and it won't stick to the oil on an old gasket, although I suppose a good clean with petrol would help.
I've never managed to get one off without it sticking somewhere and tearing though.

Thanks mikey, most of the people around my area farmers or contractors they have a good giggle at me buying gaskets at all. Its black silicone all round with them. They buy it by the box load. My fear is that too much and it sqeezes out internally and floats off to an oilway.
