Technical 2009 Fiat Ducato 3 Litre, Cam Belt or Cam Chain

The 3.0 litre engine has a cam chain - actually two, Drive is transmitted by two drive chains, a double 3/8" chain transmitts drive from the crankshaft to the oil pump/vacuum pump & high pressure pump shafts.
a single chain transmitts drive from the high pressure pump shaft to the camshafts.

Do these chains need to be checked for tension ?

I bizarrely had an argument in a local tyre shop yesterday over timing chains,
He swore that they need changing at 80,000 mile intervals!!
And he spent ages on his computer to no avail lol

Guess I must be nearly 4 chain changes behind then...

My understanding is if chain is quiet then leave alone, no checks needed, I'm at 308,000 miles (3 years old) and she's quiet and running sweet,

Hi, I need to replace my high pressure fuel pump on my 2009 3ltr power engine. Do I need any special tools and is it a easy unbolt and fit new pump...thanks for any help. Andy
